Why use XendAlign?

It's a scientific fact. Mastering those important putting skills starts by keeping your eyes above the ball and consistently stroking the ball on the intended putting line are essential elements of successful putting. Yet 95% of golfers are lacking these elements in their putting game.

Ever wondered why those 6-9 foot putts get the better of us. Pythagoras provides the answer. You see, it's all about angles. The closer you get, the greater the angle between the hole, the ball and your eye. The eye “inside” the target line results in a pushed shot and visa versa. And, continuous practice without correct alignment compounds the problem which leads us to over correct for this fundamental flaw by introducing compensation into our alignment and our putting stroke.

XtendAlign's mirrored alignment station ensures you get the right information from the start by eliminating guess work or compensation in your putting stroke. By adopting a comfortable “inbalance” posture with your eye zeroed over the ball you will effectively “calibrate” your aim and remove any awkward angles out of your putting routine. Now let XtendAlign's string project the target line towards the hole. Square your putter and guide the "sweet spot" below the aligned putting line for a consistent, straight "on-line" putting stroke.

How to Set-up XtendAlign

XtendAlign sets-up the correct starting position and ensures you perform the perfect “in-line” putting swing with your club face aligned directly at the target line.

1. Ensure golf ball and the sweet spot of your putter are positioned directly below XtendAlign at a distance of 6” to 4ft from the mirror.

2. Your correct eye position is confirmed when the mirror reflection and string align to form one image.

3. Adopt correct posture and address position before making one last check back at the mirror, using only your eyes - do not turn your head!

4. XtendAlign also lets you swing the club freely along the putting line so you get the correct feedback on your stroke alignment.

5. Aim to strike the ball square at impact using a smooth accelerating stroke that sees the club head continue its path raised-up along the target line.

Special Features at a glance

The retractable putting line extends up to 16ft (5 meters). Alignment is provided from 6” up to 4ft away from the mirror, so you can practice different lengths of putts with one set-up. XtendAlign can be used on all in- or outdoor putting surfaces.

The hole-unit on the XtendAlign Putting Aid comes with a regular-sized 41/4" hole, but the opening is merely 3". The reason for this is simple, but very effective! You practice making perfect putts into the center of the hole. Putting to the centre of the hole gives you confidence that you will putt on line, every time!

With XtendAlign you can practice short and long putts alike without the hassle of major adjustments. This handy feature makes the XtendAlign a versatile and robust solution to your putting aid needs.

The combination of the mirror and string provide instant feedback on your set up over the ball. By glancing back into the mirror to see the string and its reflection as one line on top of each other. This will ensure that your eye alignment is perfectly above the ball and the putting line, every time!

Mastering the Art of the “Breaking Putt”

Use XtendAlign to work out the pace and correct target line for “breaking putts”. In the picture above we have relatively flat ground to the hole that breaks from right to left. Judging the “apex” of the putt is as much about Pace as it is about Path. Here you extend the line as shown, using the length of the line as a gauge for the correct pace of your putt.

Mastering the correct set-up and stroke path, with XtendAlign, gives you consistency and confidence in putting that result in a successful putting game!

Zen Masters keep you in tune with technology & technique.

XtendAlign is a great custom fitting tool that confirms your equipment is set-up for your posture and putting stroke. Putters usually have varying degrees of loft on the face. This loft effectively dictates that a “Toe-up” (usually typified by a corresponding “hands low”) style putting action will result in the ball deviating left of the target (for right handed players). It is therefore important to always use the putter with the sole parallel to the ground. You can use XtendAlign to quickly check your putter is a perfect fit with your swing plane.

The XtendAlign and Zen direct feedback system is very expansive. During the season, our site will post updates from leading tour players and Coaches from around the world who now incorporate the XtendAlign into their training and analysis session. Stay connected and discover great new ways to keep you putting on track.

XtendAlign q&A

XtendAlign

Why is there a level on XtendAlign™?
When you use XtendAlign™, indoors or on the practice green, the bubble within the vial must appear between the two black lines. This will ensure that the mirror is level, giving you a perfectly vertical reflection. You can also use the level on the mirror unit to find a level area on which to set-up XtendAlign™ to practice straight putts.

Why is there a mirror on XtendAlign™?
The mirror on XtendAlign™ reflects an image of the string.
When this image is aligned with the actual string, the golfer's eyes are positioned above the putting line (string).

Do I place the ball on the mirror?
NO! The ball should never be placed on top of the mirror. The ball should always be placed on the putting surface up to 4 ft away from the mirror below the putting line.

How do I instruct others on XtendAlign™?
Stand behind the mirror unit so you are able to see the golfer's face in the mirror. With one eye closed, align yourself with the putting line and its reflection (see only one line). You can now see if the golfer's eyes and putter are correctly aligned with the putting line.

How do I use XtendAlign™ outdoors?
Short, long, straight and breaking putts can be practiced on the practice green. The instructions of XtendAlign™ are the same for indoors and outdoors on the practice green. It is very important to make sure the mirror unit is level at all times. You can use two tee's to level and secure the mirror unit on the practice green (see overleaf). The front tee has a "Tee" or spiked end for placement into the practice green. In order to practice breaking putts there are a few special set-up procedures to follow:
1. Determine the amount of break by "reading the green".
2. Place the front tee beside the cup by the amount that “you read" the putt will break.
3. Place the XtendAlign™ cup over the hole with the 3" opening centred where you feel the ball will enter the hole.
4. Stroke the ball as if it was a straight putt along the putting line with the front tee as your aim and target for distance (speed) and let gravity do the rest.
- A breaking putt is a straight putt that gravity pulls down!

How often should I Practice?
By practicing 5 - 10 minutes 3 times a week you will become a more proficient putter.
- Consistent practice with the XtendAlign™ will provide confidence on the putting green.

Remember: It's Perfect Practice that Makes Permanent!
